ASIA GROOMING FEDERATION (AGF)

 

REGULATIONS FOR AGF GROOMING COMPETITIONS

 

1. Competition Classes are classified as follows:

(i)     Open Class

(ii)    Class C

(iii)   Class B

(iv)   Class A

 

2. Should the number of competitors in the same Class exceed 40; the said Class must be divided for judging.

 

3. Entry Qualifications

Entry qualifications are as follows:

(i)     Open Class

In principle, a competitor should be at least 17 years of age and is not a qualified Groomer by any member organization.

 

(ii) Class C

Minimum of 6 months must have elapsed since the passing of AGF Grade C Examination. However, for the time being, a competitor who had passed Grade C of any member organization, minimum 6 months ago, is eligible to compete in the Class C.

 

(iii) Class B

Minimum of 1 year must have elapsed since the passing of AGF Grade B Examination.  However, for the time being, a competitor who had passed Grade B of any member organization, minimum 1 year ago, is eligible to compete in the Class B.

 

(vi) Class A

In principle, minimum of 3 years must have elapsed since the passing of AGF Grade A Examination.  However, for the time being, a competitor who had passed Grade A of any member organization, minimum 3 years ago, is eligible to compete in the Class A.

 

Details of Competitions

             

For each Class, the competitors are to compete in an all-round grooming procedure on a model dog, excluding bathing, within 2 hours.

 

1. Model Dog

(a) In principle, the model dog must be from the list of breeds below, not be less than 9 months and 1 day old on the day of the Competition and must be prepared by the competitor himself/herself.  However, should the competitor choose the Puppy Clip of the Poodle, the model dog should not be less than 9 months and 1 day old or over 15 months in principle.

 

 

 (i)    Scissoring Breeds

  •  Bedlington Terrier

  •  Bichon Frise

  •  Kerry Blue Terrier

  •  Poodle

  •  Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier                              

 

(ii)    Thinning Breeds

  •  American Cocker Spaniel

  •  English Cocker Spaniel

  •  English Springer Spaniel

 

(iii) Plucking Breeds

  •  Airedale Terrier

  •  Cairn Terrier

  •  Dandi Dinmont Terrier

  •  Irish Terrier

  •  Lakeland Terrier

  •  Miniature Schnauzer

  •  Norfolk Terrier

  •  Norwich Terrier

  •  Scottish Terrier

  •  Sealyham Terrier

  •  Standard Schnauzer

  •  Welsh Terrier

  •  West Highland White Terrier

  •  Wire Fox Terrier

             

(b).  Model dogs must not be trimmed for 2 months or more, prior to the Competition date.

(c).  If the Poodle is the model dog for the Competition, the following types of Clips are allowed in each class:

 (i)  Open Class and Class C :  Pet Clip or Show Clip  

 (ii) Class B and Class A :     Show Clip

 

(d) Options for Show Clip shall be as follows:

(i)  English Saddle Clip

(ii) Continental Clip

(iii) Scandinavian Clip

(iv) Puppy Clip

 

(e).  Options for Pet Clip as stated shall be as follows:

(i) Kennel and Lamb Clip

(ii) Pajama Dutch Clip

(iii) Royal Dutch Clip

(iv) Bolero Manhattan Clip

(v) Miami Clip

(vi) Fast Continental Clip

 

2. Awards

In principle, the following awards shall be given to winners, which shall be determined according to the number of competitors.  However, the Best Technical Award shall be given to only one person, regardless if the Class was divided as stated in Article 5 Clause 2.  Other awards shall be given depending on the number of winners.  Should there be no competitor worthy of the award, the award shall be withheld.   

 

(i) Best Technical Award : 1 winner

(ii)  Technical Award :        2 winners

(iii) Award of Merit :          several

 

In principle, the number of winners for a Competition will be based on the following ratio.

 

(i) 1-3 competitors............................................................. 1 winner

(ii)   4-5 competitors.......................................................... 2 winners

(iii)  6-7 competitors.......................................................... 4 winners

(iv)  8-10 competitors........................................................ 5 winners

(v)   11-15 competitors....................................................... 7 winners

(vi)  16-20 competitors....................................................... 8 winners

(vii) 21-40 competitors....................................................... 10 winners

 

3. Entry Fee                      

Entry fee shall be determined by the organizer.

 

4. Entry Form

Competitors must submit the Entry Form and Entry Fee to the organizer, together with a copy of his/her identity card/Passport/Driver’s licence and latest achieved Grooming Certificate.

 

5. Appointment of Judges

The organizer shall select the judges from among the AGF Grooming Judges/Examiners and appoint him/her for the Competition.
