SKC is the only authorised body in Singapore that issues Pedigree Certificates for Singapore-born litters. We inspect every litter seeking Pedigree registration with the SKC. Inspection will be carried out only after a microchip has been inserted into the puppy, as our inspectors are required to scan the puppies and record the microchip numbers. These microchip numbers will be printed on the Pedigree Certificates and they must tally with the microchip numbers in your dogs. All dogs should only have one microchip in them.
Likewise, every imported dog seeking Pedigree registration with the SKC is also inspected. It is AVA’s requirement that all imported dogs are microchipped before arrival in Singapore. An imported dog’s Pedigree registration with the SKC is completed after we have sighted the Export Pedigree issued by the country where it was originally registered.
SKC Pedigree Certificates are recognised INTERNATIONALLY.
The compulsory requirement of the microchip strengthens and makes our Pedigree system foolproof. Besides, identifying a dog through its microchip number is a recognised and accepted method internationally.
What does a SKC Pedigree Certificate look like?
Why get a Pedigree Certificate?
A Pedigree Certificate certifies that your dog is a purebred. It shows the lineage of your dog and its ancestry through its 3 generations. By studying the ancestry, one can have better knowledge of its background and any hereditary problems etc. Dogs with Pedigree Certificates are eligible to compete in our Conformation Shows and win awards and titles consequently.
How do I get a Pedigree Certificate?
It is compulsory that anyone applying for registration must first become a member of the club. Documents required for registration :-
1. Official Export Pedigree or Certified Pedigree issued by the Kennel Club of its country of export.
2. Airway Bill
3. Import Licence
4. Quarantine Certificate, where applicable.
Application must be made within 60 days of arrival.
Note : A surcharge will be imposed on those who do not comply with this rule and the acceptance for the late registration shall be at the absolute discretion of the governing council.
All particulars asked for must be given and must be fully entered before submission. In the event that there has been a delay in receipt of the export or certified pedigree, the breeder’s pedigree must be produced whereupon “provisional registration” may be granted. Full registration can only be effected upon receipt of the official export or certified pedigree within six months of the date of this application.
Locally Bred Dogs
The breeder of the litter has to apply for the Pedigree Certificate from SKC by filling in the Litter Registration Form and faxing/mailing it to SKC together with the required payment. (see Litter Registrations)
Pedigree Certificates can only be issued to litter of dogs whose parents (dam and sire) are registered with SKC.
The Pedigree Certificate can be transferred from the breeder to the owner’s name by bringing the Pedigree Certificate down to the SKC Office for a transfer of ownership. The respective parties are required to accept and sign the transfer on the space provided at the back of the Pedigree Certificate.
